New College
University of Durham
A new college, Josephine Butler College, was completed for the University of Durham in the summer of 2006. The two-year project also included new student accommodation for Ustinov College and for St Cuthbert's College, which is situated at a second site near Durham's cricket ground.

All the student accommodation consists of linked pavilions with a six-person flat on each floor. Each student has an ensuite room and there is a large well-equipped shared kitchen.

The Josephine Butler and Ustinov campuses are at Howlands Farm, south of the city centre. Because part of the site can be seen from the top of the world-famous Durham Cathedral, two of the buildings have been designed with gently sloping "green" roofs. In all some twelve new buildings have been designed, providing a total of more than 1,000 rooms for students.

Value - in excess of £35 million.
