Corby MP Opens Town's New £1.2m Sports Pavilion
Corby MP Phil Hope formally opened the new £1.2 million single storey sports pavilion in West Glebe Park, Corby on Saturday 21 July.
The new pavilion has eight team changing rooms, a changing room for referees, a changing room with disabled facilities, a first-aid room, a multi-purpose club room, an office and ancillary facilities. There is CCTV and security lighting, and a new footpath across the park, which is also lit for both safety and security reasons.
A new road and car parking facilities have also been constructed. Funding for the project has come from Corby Borough Council, the Football Foundation and Grantscape (landfill tax).
"This is a tremendous new facility," said Mr Hope, "And the park itself has been totally transformed."
The detailed design of the new pavilion, as well as the management of the project, has been undertaken by GSS Architecture. GSS partner Ian Bray said, "We were delighted to be appointed by Corby Borough Council to undertake this new project for the town. It now provides sports facilities that the town can be truly proud of, and it will provide a further welcome boost to the regeneration of Corby."
