£2m Wellingborough School Project Completed Ahead of Time

A £2 million school project in Wellingborough has been completed on budget two months ahead of schedule. The new teaching facilities at Victoria Primary School in Finedon Road will now enable pupils who were at another site in Stanley Road to be taught together in one building.

The project was designed for Northamptonshire County Council by GSS Architecture. Associate Jonathan Hunter explained, "It has provided vastly better facilities on the Finedon Road site for Key Stage 2 pupils, and will enable the former infants school to become a primary school from the middle of March."

"There is a two storey extension with six classrooms, one group room and toilets," said Jonathan. "A single storey extension has provided a new hall with a studio and storage facilities. Internal alterations have also resulted in a new library, a group room, a kitchen, staff facilities, medical inspection facilities and a community room. Naturally, there are full facilities for those with disabilities."

Head Teacher April Bosworth said, "Children and staff alike are absolutely delighted with our new facilities. It really has made a tremendous difference to the school."

The greatest possible care was taken by the main contractors, Rushden-based Deejak, to ensure the safety of all children and staff while building work took place around them.
