New Children's Centre Nears Completion in Northampton
A brand new Children's Centre which brings together early education, childcare, health and family support is on the verge of completion in Northampton. It is one of several major improvements undertaken at Vernon Terrace Primary School, where the centre is incorporated in a new main entrance to the school. There has also been a major refurbishment to the existing nursery.
The £400,000 project for Northants County Council has been designed by GSS. The project managers are Lambert Smith Hampton, while the main contractors are Mineral Star Construction.
GSS's Jonathan Landeman explained, "The Children's Centre provides the school with a new meeting and multi-functional space, consultation rooms, administration offices and an open plan nursery for pre-school children. Our design draws inspiration from the original school building and not only compliments the existing materials, proportions and colours found on the site, but provides both an impressive entrance to the school and an exciting space for the children and staff."
The school is planning a formal opening on 11 July, and the new centre should be in full operation for the start of the Autumn term.
