£8 Million Boost for Moulton College
An £8 million investment programme has seen a wide range of impressive new facilities being completed at Moulton College's Pitsford Centre, just outside Northampton. The latest projects include a two-storey classroom block with a 100-seat lecture theatre, a restaurant for students and staff, a covered sports facility with a climbing wall, gymnasium and changing rooms and a state-of-the-art equestrian centre with an indoor arena and brand new stable complex. Other new facilities include several new artificial and grass sports pitches and two lodges at the new entrance to the centre. All the buildings have been specially designed to fit in with their rural surroundings. The new facilities are due to be formally opened on 21st February.
Later in the spring work will start on a new 'large animal' therapy unit at the Pitsford Centre, and this will include a hydrotherapy pool and an operating theatre with associated facilities.
All the new projects have been designed and project-managed by GSS Architecture, while the main contractor is Rushden-based Deejak.
GSS partner Brian Gotch said, "We have been working with Moulton for several years on a multi-million pound programme that has literally transformed the college. It has been a very exciting time, and we are all delighted with the results."
College Principal Chris Moody, who was awarded the OBE in the recent New Year's Honours List, said, "Several years ago we embarked on a long-term project to turn Moulton College into one of the leaders in the further education sector, and our facilities across all three campuses are now widely recognised as being amongst the best in the country. Ofsted has described Moulton College as outstanding, while the DfES has awarded us Beacon College status. We believe the whole county can be proud of what we have achieved. We hope as many people as possible will be able to see our latest impressive facilities at our formal opening on Wednesday 21st February."
