GSS Designs State-of-the-Art Restaurant
A stunning new £1.7 million school restaurant has been designed by GSS Architecture's Bristol office. The state-of-the-art restaurant at Worle School, near Weston-super-Mare, opened in time for the start of the autumn term. The steel-framed building has a curved roof, and this design feature is repeated internally with a curved suspended ceiling in the main hall.
GSS partner and architect Michael Magri explained, "The new restaurant provides school meals for over 1,000 pupils each day, with freshly prepared meals from a new healthy living menu. The well-equipped kitchens have been designed around the school's ambitions to use fresh daily local produce. We aimed to design an outstanding building which would match all their aspirations and goals, and we think we've achieved this. It has certainly created a lot of interest with the students, and the new restaurant is proving to be very popular indeed."
