GSS Architect Judges "Civic Trust" Awards

GSS architect and associate partner Tim Barton, who is based at the Bristol office, has just completed judging a number of entries for the prestigious national Civic Trust Awards.

This is the second year running that Tim, who also teaches architecture at the University of Wales in Cardiff, has been asked to help judge the awards. Last year he looked at a number of schemes in South Wales while this year his area has been Wiltshire. Tim has been the architectural member of the judging panel, and other members have included a planning expert, an access expert and a lay member. The panel has carefully considered applications from two schools, two private houses and a housing estate, and has visited each scheme to undertake a detailed assessment.

"The quality of the schemes that we judged was of a generally high standard," said Tim, "And we are recommending at least one for a Civic Trust award. The winners will be announced early next year."
